버스, 희망공간
나는 매일 버스를 통해서 수많은 사람들과 마주치며 다양한 그들의 일상을 바라본다. 낯설지 않은 그들의 모습은 날씨나 기분에 상관없이 비슷한 표정이다. 늘 무겁게 치진 표정과 졸거나 깊은 고민에 잠겨 있다. 나와 그들은 창밖을 바라보며 흘러가는 도시의 풍경을 감상하는 것으로 버스를 타고 가는 동안의 무료하고 심심한 시간을 무료하지 않게 달래기도 한다. 창을 통해 버스 안으로 들어오는 햇볕의 따스함과 사람들 사이로 비치는 모습에서 스쳐가는 풍경의 기억 속 데자뷰(Dajavu)를 만나기도 한다.
버스는 그 동안 함께 해 왔던 오랜 친구로 지나온 시간의 기억을 고스란히 간직하며, 우리 사회와 시대의 기쁨과 아픔을 함께 싣고 달려온 산 증인이기도 하다. 버스에서 바라보는 도시의 모습은 예쁘거나 아름답기보다 복잡하고 혼란스러우며, 우울하고 지쳐 잠든 모습으로 흐린 날의 어두운 표정처럼 무거운 모습을 하고 있는 날이 많다. 우리의 무거운 표정처럼 오늘날 우리사회는 이태백-사오정, 정피아-관피아, 하우스 푸어(House Poor) 등 세상을 풍자하고 상징하는 신조어를 양산하며, 청년실업과 비정규직, 알바천국, 낙하산 인사, 저출산-고령화 문제 등 사회 구조적 문제가 심각한 수준의 시대를 달리고 있다. 우리 대중들은 시대적 아픔을 떠안은 채 매일 버스에 오르고, 버스라는 작은 공간에서 시달리며 시대의 무거운 짐을 안고 어려움을 이겨내며 살아가고 있다.
버스는 수많은 사람들로 발 디딜 틈 없이 북적이기도, 아무 승객 없이 텅 빈 채로 달리며 일상을 살아가는 수많은 사람들의 사연과 이야기로 시대를 싣고 나르며, 작은 공간에서 우리들의 표정을 만들어 간다. 버스라는 공간에서 어려운 시대를 살아가는 우리들의 무거운 표정을 읽어 내고자 하였으며, 시대의 아픔을 이겨내고 살아가는 우리들의 무거운 자화상을 보여주고자 하였다. 우리 사회의 어려운 현실을 버스 공간을 통해 조명함으로써 사회적 문제들이 개선되고 희망적인 대중의 삶으로 변화를 바라는 의미에서 대중이 이용하는 버스를 대상으로 그 공간에서 현대인이 근심하고 걱정하는 우리사회의 직접 드러나지 않는 어두운 이면의 모습을 보이고 우리사회의 이해를 높인다는 관점에서 접근하여 사회의 무거운 단면을 표현하였다.
Bus, Space of Hope
Everyday I meet a lot of people on buses and also look at various daily life of them. Their appearance look unfamiliar and similar regardless of weather or mood. They always look heavily depressed and sleepy or deeply troubled in mind. Me and they look out the window and admire the scenery of the city so that they do not have to pay for free and bored time during the bus ride. I also face Dajavu in the memories of the scenery passing through the window through the warmth of the sunshine coming into the bus and the way I see through the people.
The bus keeps a memory of time passed by an old friend who has been together for long time, It is also a living witness who lived together with the joy and pain of our society and the times. The city's view from the bus is not pretty or beautiful but more complex and confusing. It is like depressed and exhausted and sleeping, and there are many days when it looks like a dark expression on a cloudy day. Nowadays, our society makes satirical coined words as like itaebaek-saojung, jungpia-gwanpia and house Poor, etc. and also have social problems such as youth unemployment, excessive irregular workers, low fertility and rising aging population. Our masses have been suffering from the pain of the times, taking the buses everyday, suffering from a small space called buses, carrying heavy burdens of the times and surviving from the difficulties.
The buses are filled with stories and stories of people crowded, and sometimes running empty without any passengers, and carrying out the times, and making our faces in the small space. I wanted to get our heavy expressions of living in difficult times from their faces in a bus space, also wanted to show our heavy self-portrait that survives from the pain of the times. By reflecting the difficult reality of our society through the bus space, my hope is changing into a hopeful life. I wanted to show the dark side and enhancing the understanding of the society.
